The story about Joshua Graham’s rise and fall, is really the story of two men who wanted to change the world by enslaving it. ‘The Burned Man Walks’ would be a gruelling exploration of faith, war and civilisation. The excellent YouTube series NukaBreak blends comedy and drama in the Fallout world – this would be none of that. If I was to push ahead and make this film, we’d need a much bigger budget than Fallout: Lanius ($19,000 AUD) and we’d be making a very different film that you’d have seen before. On reddit, a post I made on r/Fallout was upvoted over 2000 times. When we teased that image on our Official Facebook Page for Fallout: Lanius – it was liked over 200 times. I can see from the way people have responded that there is a definite audience there. I love the Fallout series of games a great deal, and I would love to return to the series and make another fan film.

To say the response was huge would be an understatement. If their story isn’t really gripping, I can’t bring myself to finish it.Ī few days ago, I teased the fact that I’ve been writing a new Fan Film script based on the character Joshua Graham from Fallout: New Vegas (and especially the DLC Honest Hearts). I just feel sad that I don’t see myself finishing this story, even as much as I enjoyed Parvati and Max as companions.

Which is fine – but it needs to commit, really commit, to how these things interlock. The Outer Worlds wants to be Firefly, but it also wants to be Rick and Morty and it wants to be a teen romp. How many times do I need to help a NPC get a date? Is this interesting? Is this compelling? Most importantly – do I care?Įven Firefly’s very tongue-in-cheek world has very real threats (Reavers, the terrifying Jubal Early). A lot of the gameplay tasking/questing becomes odd. There’s huge problems with dramatic tension throughout the game here. It feels like there wasn’t time to really round out side quests and everything on Monarch suffers. The core plot grinds to a halt and there are huge problems with side quests. Then I hit Monarch.Įverything stops here. I really enjoyed playing through the Edgewater, Groundbreaker and Roseway sections. I was especially excited that Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky were heading this project, as they’re both considered the original creators of Fallout and I utterly adore the original Fallout. In fact, I think there should be way more AA games in the current market. I didn’t care it was an “AA Budget” game. Hell, I love Fallout: New Vegas so much, I made a whole fan film about it way back in 2013. I love that it was developed by Obsidian, one of my absolute favourite developers. I loved that it was a mostly traditional FPS RPG with lots of dialogue choices and fun companions. I loved it’s blend of space western and Art Nouveau aesthetics.
